These gorgeous hand painted portraits … Read more Offering a stunning pair of Extra-Large Antique Chinese Ancestral Portrait paintings, circa Mid 20th Century. These gorgeous hand painted portraits are done in gouache paint on paper with a silk decorative border with embroidered flying phoenixes. Although these are Mid 20th century paintings, they were re-framed in a beautiful gold leafed bamboo style wood frame in the 1970s. Custom framed label attached on the back of one of the paintings. Wire on verso for easy hanging.

A finely rendered pair of formal ancestor portraits depicting a male civil official and his wife, each seated frontally on an ornate chair draped with patterned textiles. Both figures wear ceremonial court robes in rich red tones with meticulously detailed embroidered borders and sleeve bands. The compositions follow the traditional symmetrical format associated with Qing style ancestral portraiture, emphasizing dignity, lineage, and continuity.

EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. These two lovely paintings were smartly restored with new frames and glass during the 1970s. The new owner will be very happy about their pristine appearance. Priced accordingly to their nearly immaculate vintage condition.
