Antique 18th century Delft vase with figural lion lid in the Chinoiserie style decorated with an overall pattern of flowers. Marked on the base with the axe or hatchet mark.
In the 18th century, the "axe" mark was the official maker's signature for the famous De Porceleyne Bijl factory in Delft, Netherlands. Measures 12 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" front to back. Good condition - minor typical rim frits.
