This is a set of antique Japanese porcelain hand painted ducks. Highly collectable in Japan, as each set of birds is unique as can be, by many hand-painters. They were likely handcrafted in the 1930’s-1940’s. One is missing its cork closure (shown in photos) but one still has its original.
What an adorable set! I have cherished this antique set for 30 years now! I’ve been a thrifter my whole life, and it started with my family. We loved to go to all the local garages sales all season, each year. I was 11 when I came upon an older Japanese woman having a sale, and up at the front table where she sat with the cash box, were about 25 sets of really neat and unique salt & pepper shaker sets. I ended up getting 5 sets from her and each set had its own story, she told them to me as I looked. It was a day that I’ll never forget, as my very own salt & pepper shaker collection began that moment! And just like her, each one has a story. Thanks for letting me share as you looked<3
