It features a detailed bird's-eye view of the New Park estate, including the mansion, formal gardens, and tree-lined avenues. These engravings were part of "Britannia Illustrata," a famous series depicting great English country houses.

Johannes Kip (1653–1722) was a Dutch / English engraver born in Amsterdam and settled in London in the late 1680s. These engravings are from his most important work " Brittania Illustrata, a series of etchings depicting the great English country houses.

Towards the end of the 17th century, the Earl of Rochester acquired a lease on land that included Petersham Lodge, which had existed prior to the Park’s enclosure. He demolished the Lodge and built a new mansion, known as New Park, with extensive gardens. The gardens were formal in design and quite different in character to the rest of the Park.
