Offered for sale is a striking vintage Raku studio art pottery vase/jar by Nevada ceramic artist John Manley of New Washoe City, Nevada.

This impressive vessel features a bold, substantial form and a beautiful iridescent red glaze with rich variations in color and surface created by the Raku firing process. The dramatic metallic and shimmering effects make this a distinctive example of contemporary studio ceramics.

The vase is signed by John Manley.

About the Artist

John Manley is a professional ceramic artist with over three decades of experience, specializing in wheel-thrown and altered large-scale vessels. His work encompasses Raku vases, large high-fire reduction vessels, wood-fired ceramics, and salt-fired pottery.

In addition to sculptural vessels, Manley produces a wide range of functional ceramic wares in both porcelain and stoneware, including bowls, mugs, cups, pitchers, teapots, tea bowls, tumblers, berry bowls, sponge holders, spoon rests, plates, and platters.

Manley studied art and design at Colorado Mountain College, Questa College, and Sierra Nevada University. He is also a master kiln builder, having constructed seven wood-fired kilns and taught seminars on kiln design and construction.

His work has been marketed through art galleries, interior designers, art and wine festivals, craft fairs, and farmers markets.
