This Keith Haring very rare vintage offset lithograph print " Nuclear Disarmament " custom framed collector's iconic Pop Art poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
In 1982 Keith Haring created this poster for Nuclear Disarmament, which features his signature Radiant Baby in a mushroom cloud, copyright K.H. Haring 1982. This historical work marks Haring's first poster and helped to begin his focus on social activism. He printed thousands of the posters on his own initiative. On June 2, 1982 he transported these posters in a handcart to what was the largest demonstration to date against nuclear weapons and the global arms race, which took place in Central Park in New York City. There were one million protesters there, and Haring gave his posters away for free.
This is a rare opportunity for true Keith Haring, Pop Art, and social activism fans and collectors, as this coveted image Pop Art poster print is long out of print and very scarce to find. Because of the energy and nature of the event the majority of these posters did not survive. An example of this same poster print is held in the archive collection of important museums worldwide.
Keith Haring ( 1958 - 1990 ) was an incredibly vibrant American artist and social activist who's artwork responded to the 1980's Street culture by expressing concepts of birth, death, sexuality, and war. haring's work was often heavily political, his imagery became a widely recognized vivivd and iconic visual language of The 20th Century. Haring's close friends and inspirational contemporaries included Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Madonna all of whom he collaborated with in his lifetime. Artworks by Haring are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The " Radiant Baby "is the tag of Keith Haring. he said of the baby, " babies represent the possibility of the future, the understanding of perfection, how perfect we could be. There is nothing negative about the baby, ever... The reason the " Baby " has become my logo or signature is that it is the purest and positive experience of human existence ".
The rare out of print collector's framed Pop Art poster print measures 23 7/8" W X 29 7/8" H X 1 1/4" D.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass, presented in a top mounted presentation on black matt board, in a Contemporary Modern black metal matte eggshell finish box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and some very light minor wear. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
