A turn of the 20th century Amphora art pottery cachepot, planter, or jardinière, manufactured by Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel (RStK) Amphora of Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia (now in the Czech Republic).
The antique cachepot is a low, footed vessel with two handles and a scalloped rim, decorated in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil taste with hand-painted polychrome flowers against neutral-toned mottled background filled with textured, scrolling vines. The interior is glazed in a glossy pale pink contrasting with rim, handles, and feet in a deep, dark blue.
Very good original condition with full, embossed trademarks underfoot: AMPHORA [in an oval] three pointed crown / AUSTRIA [in an oval] / over IMPERIAL-AMPHORA [in a circle] / 11859 [model/form number dating manufacture between 1906 - 1909] / 46. An impressed "Teola" mark appears on one side within the vines.
Dimensions: 10.5 in. Length x 5.5 in. Width x 3.5 in. Height.
Manufacturing: The Amphora factory was known for its high-quality art pottery developed by designers like Eduard Stellmacher and Paul Dachsel.
