If you look up "Mid-Century Modern" in the dictionary you will see this exact artwork in this exact frame. That may be a slight overstatement, but not by much. This stunning 34” x 34” serigraph, "Starburst," by Warren Woodward, is a beautiful example of mid-century geometric design.
Woodward was born in Australia in 1920 and studied at East Sydney Technical School before serving five years in the Australian Army during World War II. After the war, he moved to Los Angeles and opened his own print shop. Much of his work blends semi-abstract and cubist influences, balancing structure with a feeling of energy - something that’s clearly present in this piece.
Professionally framed. Pencil signed, titled, and numbered 109/500.
