A wonderful antique circa 1890s copper fish boiler/poacher with rolled rim, iron handles, and tinned insert & lining. Made by Duparquet, Huot & Moneuse during their time at 43 & 45 Wooster Street in New York City (1889-1910s), this was clearly a custom-made piece as the body design is unique and not shown in any of their old catalogs from the era. It’s also the only Duparquet piece I’ve ever come across that is stamped on the lid handle in this fashion. It has been in my collection for a number of years, when originally purchased I was told it came from a grand estate, but I’ve tried to research it on and off over the years and I’ve not been able to match it to either one of the grand estates in Newport, Rhode Island, or an estate named Newport. It’s a fantastic and unique piece that remains a bit of a mystery!
In excellent condition, no big dents or damage, just the usual small bumps, surface marks and signs of you see would expect from antique copper that’s well over 100 years old. The handles are still firmly attached. This has been professionally restored, polished, and tinned in our studio; it is in excellent condition and ready for use!
Measures approximately 20.5" along the handles, 17.75" not including the handles, by 9.25" tall to the top of the handle, a hair under 6" tall not including handle, by 7.25" wide. The interior measurements are approximately is 17.25" long x 6.75" wide x 5.75" tall.
