A 1951 stone lithograph, titled "Self Portraits #3," by American artist Martin Barooshian (1929-2022). This piece features the 3/4 view and side profile of Barooshian, surrounded by birds, and a woman in the lower corner. It is signed and dated to the bottom right, numbered 8/12 to the bottom left and titled near lower left corner “SELF-PORTRAITS #3 & A BEFORE & AFTER SHAVING I USE GILLETT BLUE BLADES.” This piece is displayed in a gold-tone frame against a cream mat.
Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Barooshian studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as well as receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education from Tufts University and a Master's degree in Art History from Boston University. He also studied at Atelier 17 in Paris under Stanley William Hayter. Barooshian taught at the Pratt Institute and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His works are in the collections of the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York's Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
