A late 19th century Austrian (Bohemian) majolica figural tobacco jar, likely from the Turn-Teplitz region, circa 1880–1900.
Modeled as a gentlemanly dog in period attire, the jar features a removable sculpted lid forming the dog’s head. The body is finished in a deep navy glaze with molded coat detailing, and the interior retains its celadon-green glaze — a characteristic feature of Bohemian majolica production.
The expressive modeling and high-gloss surface reflect the theatrical, humorous style favored in Continental smoking-room accessories of the late Victorian era.
