While daily aprons were more utilitarian, coin-adorned versions like this were reserved for festivals, weddings, and special celebrations.

Hand-woven from wool, these traditional aprons typically feature vibrant strips of red, black, and green. This specific example is characteristic of the Northern Bulgarian (Severnyashka) style, often originating from regions such as Pleven or Vrakas. Wool is warp-woven in colorful striped patterns. Apron is adorned with authentic coins sewn onto the fabric. Historically, the number and types of coins could signify the wearer’s wealth or status.
