Preserved … Read more This French needlepoint textile fragment dates to the late 19th century and was originally upholstered on antique French armchairs. Preserved from the original seating, the textile features a finely worked floral bouquet motif framed by a continuous floral garland, executed in muted, time-softened tones on a warm ground.

The needlework is consistent with French petit point / needlepoint traditions associated with decorative upholstery produced in France during the latter half of the 19th century, often seen on Louis XVI–style and revival seating. The composition, palette, and stitch density suggest workshop production rather than later reproduction.

The fragment shows wear consistent with age and use, including edge fraying, light fading, and areas of softness to the weave. These characteristics are inherent to antique textiles of this type and contribute to its authenticity and visual appeal.
