These two examples date from 1972 and thus belong to the third production run. They were made of dyed-through thermoplastic polystyrene and can be clearly identified by the characteristic grooves below the curve between the seat and the base. During this phase, the design was first implemented industrially on a larger scale and distributed internationally.

The vibrant orange hue underscores the sculptural character of the design and corresponds to the original color palette with which Verner Panton deliberately created atmosphere and visual interest in a room. As a single piece, the Panton Chair has the presence of a three-dimensional object; as a pair, it unfolds a particularly strong spatial presence.
