Postmodern floor lamp by Rolf Benz, designed by A. Engbert and F. Ringelhan in 1990.
The design clearly draws its inspiration from the maritime world: an abstract sailboat with an exaggerated sail in both size and shape. The sail is designed as an elliptical tube and serves as a diffuser. The aluminum base is shaped like a boat hull. The diffuser is mounted at a slight angle and spaced apart from the base. The light source in the base shines upwards into the diffuser. Light also emanates downwards through a transparent blue acrylic disc, creating a subtle blue glow at the joint between the base and the sail. The lamp features a cord dimmer.
It is in very good condition with signs of use and a patina. This piece has an attribution mark,
