With ornate details and well-balanced symmetry, this hand-knotted wool vintage Persian Mahi Tabriz rug is poised to impress. The medallion is filled with and surrounded by an all-over pattern of Herati creating a frenetic garden. A scalloped lozenge floats in the central field while a smaller medallion echoes the hues of the cut-out spandrels. The Mahi Persian rug is framed with a classic Herati border flanked with a triple inner and outer guard band. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish.
