A striking bulbous silver-plated vase designed and manufactured in the 1960s by the renowned Los Castillo workshop in Taxco, widely regarded as one of the most influential studios in Mexican modern silver design.
Crafted from solid brass and expertly silver plated, this sculptural vessel is richly inlaid with natural mother-of-pearl, forming a luminous mosaic around the neck that subtly shifts in tone from soft whites and blush pinks to pearlescent silvers. The generously rounded, multi-lobed body showcases Los Castillo’s mastery of hand-wrought metalwork, balancing organic volume with refined surface treatment.
The vase retains its original Los Castillo hallmark, stamped:
Los Castillo – Taxco – Plateado – Mexico – TA-01
Both decorative and architectural in presence, this piece works beautifully as a standalone sculptural object or as a functional vase, making it highly desirable for interior designers, mid-century modern collectors, and admirers of Latin American decorative arts. Its scale and material contrast allow it to anchor a console, credenza, or tabletop with quiet sophistication.
The vase is presented in good vintage condition, with honest wear and patina consistent with over 50 years of age, enhancing its character and authenticity.
