Early 19th century French provincial farmhouse trestle table sourced in Provence, France, featuring a solid elm plank top over a fruitwood base. The top shows warm tonal variation and natural wear accumulated over generations of use, creating a soft, lived-in surface and depth of color that only age can produce. Subtle undulation to the boards and gently worn edges reflect its hand-crafted origin and early construction. Raised on square chamfered legs joined by a full H-form stretcher base, the table is constructed with traditional pegged mortise and tenon joinery throughout. The fruitwood apron is fitted with three drawers, two long side drawers and one central working drawer, all with hand-cut interiors and wooden knob pulls, allowing the piece to function from multiple sides as originally intended. The piece has been structurally revised in our workshop to ensure stability for everyday use and the wood has been carefully cleaned and finished with a hand-applied wax, enhancing depth while preserving the original patina. Originally used as a kitchen or work table, it can again serve beautifully as a small dining table or kitchen island, and also adapts well as a console or large writing desk while retaining its honest farmhouse character and presence.
