Stunning pair of vintage Japanese painted panels depicts Samurai and Bijin (young beautiful woman). Signed by artist. Gouache, watercolor and ink on dark gold paper. True color of the background on both panels in natural, indirect light is dark gold. Silk border. Lacquered black wood frames with beautifully engraved copper corners and medallions showing age patina. Paper and two metal hangers on backs. Lightweight. Japan, Showa Era, circa 1960s. Very Good condition - the Samurai panel has minor age wear (the darker spot at the lower left corner appears to be antique style of dark gold paper); the Bijin panel has a small repair at the lower left corner and repairs on paper back; both panels have some age wear on the wood frames; clean.
