This elegant, bulbous vase stands on a small base and was probably designed for ikebana ( a Japanese flower arranging. The fully painted surface gleams with gold, bronze, white, rust and pale green flowers. There is a chop mark pressed into the bottom and shown in a picture. This mark is consistent with those shown as belong to an artist of the Meiji and Taisha period (late
19th to early 20th centuries).
