As detailed by the University of Aberdeen Zoology Museum, "In the late 19th century Botanist and model-maker Robert Brendel and his son Reinhold produced beautiful and accurate models of enlarged flowers at Breslau and Berlin. These models were highly appreciated in universities and research centers because of their detail and accuracy.

This particular model is made of polychromed papier mâché, on a round wood base and turned wood stands. The base reads "Prunus", which indicates that while the base is an original Brendel, it does not correspond to the particular flower.
