Moisés Finalé (born Cárdenas, Cuba 1957) is an essential figure in the visual arts of Cuba. His work does not recognize border controls. This afternoon, he will inaugurate his solo exhibition "Between Senufo and Meninas" at Galería Habana. According to Master Reynaldo González in his introductory words, "The painter calls for the custodianship of a secret, seeks its trace, a conjunction of struggles and conquests, ceremonies. He chisels the narrative he invites, shapes the structure of arabesques in a dense warp. He incites the choral anxiety from which threads hang."
He began his studies at the Provincial School of Art in Matanzas, then continued at the National School of Art (ENA) in 1975, and finally at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in 1979. He emerged in the '80s as part of the generation of artists educated under the Revolution, founding the group 4 x 4 alongside Gustavo Acosta, José Franco, and Carlos Alberto García.
His first solo exhibition "Paintings and Drawings" took place in 1981 at the National Museum of Fine Arts and in 1984 at Galería Habana with the exhibition titled "Gardening Section" and many other invited exhibitions.
In the nineties, he settled in France, where he participated in various collective and individual projects in Europe and other regions of the world. His career in those latitudes deserves to be studied; just mentioning that he was the author for more than two decades of the poster for the prestigious Latin American film festival in Toulouse.
