A beautifully executed Japanese four-panel folding screen featuring elegantly robed court ladies gathered beneath pine and blossoming branches in a tranquil garden setting.
Rendered in aged bronzed colored mineral pigments, this piece changes with the lighting from matte in high lighted areas to glowing in dimly lit rooms (see photos for examples). The screen is framed in lacquered wood with patterned textile brocade borders and decorative metal corner mounts. The reverse in printed cloth with artist's calligraphy and seal.
A handsome screen that would be well suited for display on your wall behind a sofa or console table. These are also great pieces to transform to obscure televisions from view.
ORIGIN: Japan
MAKER'S MARK: Signed on front of the screen and back of the screen (see photos) along with retailor tag.
