Large Rare 1940s Hand Carved Wood Zen Master Buddhist Statue. 13 W x 8D x 20H
One of my favorite finds..Large, beautifully handcarved, one of a kind Buddha-like figure, monk or Zen Master. The positioning of the hands is called a "hand over fist salute" and has many meanings in Chinese culture. Variations of this gesture can be used as a warm traditional Chinese greeting, a sign of respect, a wish for wealth and success in spring festivals. The hands in this position often symbolise Chinese rivers and the flow of yin and yang. One of a kind.
