A solid teak wood peppermill and salt shaker set with the design attributed to Jens Quistgaard and manufactured by Nissen, Denmark. Richard Nissen produced famous wooden designs for Dansk, created by head designer Jens Harald Quistgaard, until production moved to Asia around 1970. After 1970, Richard Nissen created his own distinctive mid-century modern and minimalist Scandinavian pieces. The mechanism on this piece is by French maker Peugeot, known for its high-quality, reliable grinding mechanisms. Nissen used mechanisms by Peugeot or Bodum.
Salt can be loaded through the top by removing the wood peg. Pepper can be loaded through the bottom by removing the red plastic peg.
This piece is marked with a faded "Danmark" on the bottom side.
