It features the classic softly arched top and rounded corners associated with mirrors of this period. The frame has a beautifully executed faux burled wood or tortoiseshell-style painted finish with rich swirling grain movement. A black painted outer border adds contrast and definition, while a subtle inner gilt line adds depth and refinement. From a distance the finish reads like burled wood. Up close you can see the hand-painted character, which gives it warmth and visual interest. It feels antique and collected rather than overly formal.
