Did you know that the tallest building in the world is The Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper in Dubai? It is 2,722 feet tall… that’s just over half a mile high… EXCLUDING the antenna!!! While that is extremely impressive… this girl is afraid of heights, so no thank you… but WOW!!! How would you like to have to wash those windows?? NOPE!!! Speaking of incredible buildings… This is a phenomenal vintage modern abstract limited edition cityscape serigraph titled “Steel Mosaic” #175 of 450 impressions. It is pencil signed by Don Munz and framed in a new “period correct” black painted aluminum frame. This is one of a suite of 3 Serigraphs titled “Enfilade, Refractors, & Steel Mosaic” but does not need all three to make a complete impression. This one is A GORGEOUS city scene of tall narrow urban structures & skyscrapers created with intricate geometrical shapes, dramatic depth, & precise lines showcasing architectural innovation & execution of a massive, dense vertical development. It bears fabulous contrasting colors of dark blue, black, and deep red & pastel colors of lavender, light blue & pink emulating the beams of a distant sunset peeking through the structures, bouncing off the windows as the tips of the towers touch the edge of the skyline. It’s absolutely BREATHTAKING!!!! It will be incredible in your office or study, in an entry, or mounted on any wall in your home you wish to showcase a limited-edition vintage masterpiece.
Don Munz was born in 1931 in San Francisco, California. He attended the Art Center College of Design and after graduating with honors, went on to complete his Master of Fine Arts Degree at California State University. He also furthered his art education at Amherst College in Massachusetts. Following graduation, he taught art & design in the Art department at Pasadena City College for nine years. He found his passion for silkscreen creating his marvelous silkscreen editions in his Southern California studio. Serigraphy is the initial process he uses in creating his limited editions working with fresh ink, sponges, brushes, cloths, & squeegees to create textures and layers. He incorporates his expertise as a colorist into oil painting, and he has created many urban landscapes but lately his focus has turned to landscapes & undisturbed nature. He is currently a member of the oldest art club in California the “California Art Club” & the Oil Painters of Americas annual show. He currently resides in Canada, and his works are highly sought after today.
