An elegantly refined Belle Époque period French sewing table, hand-crafted in the early 20th century, finished in sophisticatled Louis XV … Read more An elegantly refined Belle Époque period French sewing table, hand-crafted in the early 20th century, finished in sophisticatled Louis XV taste, having a shapely, contoured fruitwood case with serpentine shaped front, curved sides, and beautiful marquetry inlays of exotic woods including kingwood, Brazilian rosewood, satinwood, maple, olive wood and more.

Having a hinged lid topped with patinated pierced brass raised gallery and floral marquetry lifting open to reveal a spacious open interior compartment fitted with original teal upholstery and oversized pin cushion, over a mixed-wood shaped cabinet with marquetry and parquetry on all sides above an undulating scalloped apron, gracefully rising on lower tier shelf-stretcher joined cabriole legs with delicate cross-banded inlay, embellished with acanthus leaf scroll gilt bronze mounts, terminating in sabots.

A wonderful example, nicely aged, with warm and attractive patina over the whole. Ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a guéridon, end table, chair side table, cocktail drinks stand, valet, bedside nightstand, hall console or beautiful accent piece to name just a few.

This fine quality antique, circa 1910, presents very well, strong, sturdy and structurally sound, having moderate to heavy wear consistent with age and indicative of use, including some cosmetic imperfections such as minor nicks, light scratches, finish losses and other typical wear.
