Cobalt Blue ground with scenic medallions - a dockside maritime scene with ships upfront, flowers on the opposite side and Peacock birds on the short sides
The original lid is retained, displaying the peacock motif again, alongside two floral panels
Characteristic portrayal and foliate borders and ornamentation, in Gold and White
Tagged on the underside by a previous collector or gallery

This type of finely crafted enamelware is known as collectively as Battersea enamel, to distinguish it as a solely British production. However, pieces like this were produced in several places in England during the period, notably Bilston, Birmingham, Staffordshire, Midlands and the namesake London suburb of Battersea
