The seat is crafted from bent American oak and set on a modernist, organically shaped metal base. The graphic line of the base creates hairpin legs. Born in 1933, Hans Brattrud designed the Scandia chair in the 1950s as a student project at the National College of Art & Design in Oslo. The chair was revolutionary in both shape and expression. By using horizontal ribs, the two-dimensional laminated shape was fastened and rendered three-dimensionally. It was an ingenious design that was ahead of its time and created a unique and timeless design.

This pair of armchairs, designed in 1957, was crafted by the Fjordfiesta manufactory in Norway at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.
