About Muller Frères
Muller Frères was established in Lunéville, Lorraine, by the Muller brothers — a family of nine glassmakers who had trained in the workshop of Émile Gallé in Nancy during the 1890s. Leaving Gallé’s factory before his death in 1904, the brothers began independent production in the late 1890s, drawing upon the technical expertise they had acquired in cameo carving and layered glass. Their early works reflect the influence of the Art Nouveau movement and the École de Nancy, while later production evolved toward bold Art Deco forms during the interwar period. Key figures within the family enterprise included Henri, Désiré, Eugène, and Victor Muller. Today, pieces signed “Muller Frères Lunéville” are regarded as important examples of early 20th-century French art glass, valued for their craftsmanship and their place within Lorraine’s distinguished glassmaking tradition.
