A male necklace from the Asmat Village, Papua New Guinea.
Large Money Cowrie shells (used in earlier times as currency) seamlessly sewn in concentric rows onto a white cotton macramé base, which has been hand-knotted around a semi-circular bamboo frame.
The necklace rests freely on a bespoke metal stand, which allows the piece to be detached from the stand and displayed in any position. Dimensions: 15" W x 21" (on stand)
