The fact that this paint is still so in tact and vibrant after probably 200 years is amazing. I'm guessing this is early 1800s. It's a sturdy one-drawer stand with a bottom shelf and drawer below. The mustard color is just so perfect, accented in gold/black paint, with a little umber striping around the edges. The two top surfaces are in great shape as is the back splash decoration, which is fruit. The most wear and tear shows on the legs which you can clearly see. It adds patina and doesn't detract! It's sturdy, not wobbly. The drawer is constructed with 2 round wood pegs at each corner. I think the knob is probably original. The drawer measures 2 1/4" deep. A stunning primitive piece. I have no idea of the kind of wood. Maybe this originally was a wash stand? Or perhaps a candle stand. It's a piece of folk art! See less
