Antique Italian Giltwood and Plaster Mirror Frame,C. 1920-1940
Antique Italian mirror frame featuring a hand-carved wood core with applied plaster ornament, richly gilded in warm gold tones. The frame displays elegant foliate scrolls and a pierced crest, with a heart shape on top. hand crafted
Likely produced in Italy in th early to mid 20th century, this piece exemplifies Venetian-inspired decorative design. The surface shows authentic wear and small areas of loss to the gilding and plaster consistent with age, lending a beautiful, timeworn patina. Structurally sound and well preserved.
The mirror plate has been replaced or is absent, which is common for frames of this period and allows flexibility for custom glass installation. Suitable for use as a mirror or as a decorative frame layered over stone, paneling, or artwork.
