Originating from France, this piece was designed for private prayer or chapel use and reflects the deep religious craftsmanship typical of French ecclesiastical interiors of the period.

The chair features a finely carved wooden frame, finished in a dark patinated tone, with elegant turned legs and stretchers. The defining element is the hand-carved cross motif integrated into the back support, framed by a trefoil-shaped Gothic revival ornament — a strong visual reference to Catholic symbolism prevalent in French religious furniture of the era.

Both the seat and kneeler are upholstered in original or period-appropriate needlepoint tapestry, decorated with Christian crosses, wheat sheaves, grape clusters and floral motifs, symbolizing the Eucharist and abundance.

The upholstery is finished with traditional brass nailhead trim, further reinforcing its authenticity and antique character.
