The hardcover art book with red linen covered boards, embossed spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Thames & Hudson Inc., New York in association with Anthony D'Offay Gallery, London. Printed and bound in Germany in 1994 by UWE Kraus GMBH, Murr/Stuttgart. It features a survey collection of the portrait artworks from the 1970's and 1980's by the Pop Art master artist Andy Warhol. Authored by Henry Geldzahler and Robert Rosenblum with additional text by Vincent Fremont and Leon Paroissien.

The portraits of Andy Warhol, the undisputed champion of American Pop Art, are the fruits f one of his most significant creative outputs. He created a virtual museum of personalities, both living and deceased, from the worlds of film, show business, fashion, art, literature and politics. Characteristics of his unique style of portraiture is the use of silkscreens made from polaroid photographs - some of which were taken by the artist during encounters with his subjects at the notorious factory. Warhol primed his silkscreens with a rich repertoire of colors, bold and expressionistic, which gave rise to some of the most distinctive portraits of our time.

This beautiful volume includes more than 70 subjects - an extraordinary gallery of some of the most famous and influential figures of The Twentieth century, by one of its most important artists.

The rare out of print vintage hardcover art book measures 10" W X 11" H X 1" D, with 168 pages. It features 110 offset lithograph print illustrations, including 90 in full color. The book is further enhanced with list of illustrations, biography, selected individual exhibitions, and selected bibliography.
