The artist Filippo Indoni, was a well-regarded genre painter from the second half of the 19th century and this piece was painted in 1875. The grand piece depicts two Neopolitan boy in time era attire set in a pastoral landscape. The scene captures a moment of interaction and movement, with expressive gestures and detailed garments that suggest a narrative rooted in everyday life. Earth-toned hues and soft transitions create depth throughout the background, while the boys remain the focal point through careful use of contrast and composition. The artwork is housed in a gilded mirror frame with decorative detailing that is a work of art on its own. This wonderful art piece had lived a long a fabulous life in the historical restaurant, Alioto's in the San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf. In good condition, visible and minimal wear from usage.
