Offered is a burnished glazed ceramic decorative plate depicting a bird and a plant made in Tonalá in Jalisco, Mexico some time between the late 1950s to mid 1960s.
The bird and plant are typical of the region, as are the earth-tone colors - gray, brown, black and white - made from natural tints native to the area.
It also makes a lovely display bowl for a coffee-table, centerpiece, or on a console, yet could also be hung on a wall or framed in a shadow box.
It measures 8.75" in diameter, 1.125" high.

- This is a vintage handcrafted decorative plate in its found condition. There are no discernible cracks or signs of repair, … moreThis is a vintage handcrafted decorative plate in its found condition. There are no discernible cracks or signs of repair, however, there is evident wear along the rim and the original paint has flaked off and faded (see photos), and there is a minor fleabite on the underside along the rim (see photo) that is not evident on the front surface of the plate. It has holes on the rear for hanging a strap or cord to display the plate on a wall. Any imperfections in its craftsmanship are innate, and any wear is commensurate with its age and past handling. less
