A striking example of Edwardian-era English ceramics, this antique Royal Doulton Burslem water pitcher is decorated in the "Aubrey" pattern — one of the factory's most accomplished Art Nouveau designs. Produced at the Nile Street, Burslem works in Staffordshire between 1901 and 1922, the piece carries the iconic Royal Doulton lion, crown, and roundel backstamp with "England," confirming its dating.
The Aubrey pattern features the hallmarks of the Art Nouveau movement at its most refined: sinuous whiplash line motifs, stylized rose medallions, and repeating organic forms rendered in deep cobalt blue flow transferware against a crisp white ironstone ground. The neck is richly decorated with a dense foliate collar, while the body opens into a graceful tapered form with a flared foot ring and squared spout.
Originally part of a washstand chamber set, this pitcher stands as a compelling standalone decorative object — generously scaled at 13.75" tall and 7.5" in diameter, with commanding presence on a shelf, console, or entry table.
