Original stone-lithograph plate printed circa 1896 at Imprimerie Chaix (Paris) for Les Affiches Illustrées. This reduced-format print reproduces Jules Chéret’s vibrant poster advertising the “Fête de Nuit Bal” (Night Festival Ball) at the Jardin de Paris, one of the grandest evening spectacles of Belle Époque Paris — a dazzling late-night variety show often held on the Champs-Élysées. The composition captures the electric thrill of the event: a central dancer in flowing attire leaping in motion, surrounded by shadowy revelers and bold, curvaceous title text that harmonizes with the swirling atmosphere of the night fair.



Les Affiches Illustrées (1896–1899) was a collectors’ journal of lithographic reductions issued in small print runs. Published under Jules Chéret’s artistic direction at the Chaix atelier, each plate replicated a full-size poster using the same stone-lithographic technique. These plates allowed collectors a chance to own original works of Belle Époque poster art in a more manageable, collectible format.
