This massive, hand-blown glass sculpture is a striking example of American studio glass from the late 20th century. Dated 1990 and signed by the artist "FINE," it captures the bold, experimental shift of the Postmodern era, moving away from traditional forms into something more sculptural and expressive.
The piece features a heavy, wide-rimmed amethyst "handkerchief" bowl accented with internal floral-inspired motifs. It rests on a substantial, smoky glass base that serves as a canvas for energetic, "graffiti-style" trailed glass in lavender and sky blue. The contrast between the elegant cranberry top and the raw, gestural base makes it a perfect statement piece for an eclectic MCM or Postmodern interior.
At 13 inches tall and wide, it has a significant gallery-scale presence. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The underside features a ground-flat pontil and a clear artist signature and date.
