A dynamic two-beat gait of the horse, in which diagonal pairs of legs (e.g. Left hind and right front) are moved simultaneously, followed by a brief suspension phase in which all four hooves are off the ground. There are two main phases per cycle, created by diagonal leg movements. The horse always moves one hind leg and the opposite front leg at the same time. Between ground contacts, there is a brief moment when the horse is suspended in the air, which provides momentum. There are different types of trot, from collected trot to extended trot, with varying stride length and height. Exercises from the high school include a trot almost on the spot, known as piaffe, and a trot with an extended suspension phase and accentuated raised legs, known as passage. The rider is dressed in the traditional costume of the spanish riding school, consisting of a black two-pointed hat, brown tailcoat with gold buttons, and white buckskin trousers. It is accompanied by black leather gauntlet boots, matching spurs and white suede gloves. On oval, slightly curved earth base, with the inscriptions 'trab-spanish riding school' and 'hofburg vienna' on the long sides. The model was created by prof. Albin doebrich circa 1925. Made 2nd half of 20th century.
