The Modernist screen print is published by Yale University Art Gallery, printed in an unnumbered limited edition in The United States in 1978 by Editions Limited 01202 USA. It features an artwork image from his iconic series, originally created by Albers in 1969 titled " Homage To The Square ", gift of Anni Albers and The Josef Albers Foundation Inc.

Josef Albers ( 1888 - 1976 ) was a German born artist and educator whose work, both in Europe and The United States formed the basis of Modern Art education programs of The 20th Century. Albers was a student at The Bauhaus in 1920, later being invited by the founder Walter Gropius to become an educator at the school. There his students included established artists Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee.

IN the 1930's Albers emigrated to The United States where he would become the head of the new art school Black Mountain College, and later in the 1950's he became the head of the department of design at Yale University. His students in America included Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Richard Anuskiewicz, and Eva Hesse among others.

Accomplished as a designer, photographer, typographer, printmaker, and poet, Albers is best remembered for his work as an Abstract painter and an invaluable contributor as an art theorist of color theory. He is considered to be one of the most influential visual artists of The Twentieth Century. Artworks by Albers are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The rare out of print framed Modernist silkscreen print measures 24 1/8" W X 28 1/2" H X 1 1/2" D.

It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin eggshell finish bleached white oak wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor wear.
