Crafted in richly figured rosewood, this magnificent and highly unusual caddy is distinguished by extensive copper inlay and trim throughout. The copper detailing includes the carrying handles, escutcheon, and refined accents that frame the form, creating a striking contrast against the warm rosewood surface. Raised on elegant ball feet, the caddy presents beautifully with strong Regency presence.

The interior retains two original lidded tea compartments positioned from back to front, each measuring approximately 5 inches high and 4 inches deep, with a depth of 4 1/2 inches overall. The central circular aperture, intended for a crystal waste bowl, measures approximately 3 1/2 inches deep; the crystal bowl is no longer present, and the key is absent. Both tea compartments are identical in size and proportion, flanking the central opening symmetrically.

Despite the missing bowl and key, the caddy remains in wonderful condition and is exceptionally decorative. The abundance of copper trim is rare and gives this piece a distinctive character seldom found in Regency tea caddies. A highly collectible example of early 19th century English craftsmanship, offering both visual impact and historical significance. See less
