This impressive specimen was hand-carved in Asia out of one solid piece of malachite, and features incredible coloring and patterning throughout, with vibrant bright greens, light green, vivid dark greens and deeper shades of very dark to nearly black banded masses, all in a lustrous, highly polished finish adding unique, beautiful rich depth.

The naturalistic ornamental gemstone sculpture depicted in motion walking, with curvaceous shaped body, trunk raised and turned with textured incised underside, two faux tusks (one a later added replacement) protruding forward, finely incised carving details including eyes and toe feet.

Malachite, known as the "stone of transformation" is believed to assist one in situations of change, to clarify emotions, and to release negative experiences.

Throughout history, the symbol of the elephant has been associated with: Memory, Strength, Ancient Wisdom, Power, Confidence and Patience.

It is believed that an elephant with its trunk up will shower good fortune on all who walk past it.
