A timeless piece of British sporting history, this framed work is from Francis Calcraft Turner’s celebrated “The Noble Tips” series, renowned for its lively fox-hunting scenes and irresistible English country-house charm.
This particular composition is a true showpiece: the pack surges forward across the landscape as riders gather in pursuit, with elegant mounted figures in the foreground and the hunt unfolding in the distance. The rolling hills, soft sky tones, and winding stream give the scene depth, movement, and a cinematic sense of place.
Printed as a lithograph and finished with hand-applied color, the piece has that collector-loved look—richly detailed horses, crisp hunt attire, expressive hounds, and beautifully nuanced greens and earth tones.
It is professionally presented in a classic ornate gilt frame with layered matting and an inner gold liner, making it ready to hang and instantly impactful in a library, office, bar room, den, entry hall, or equestrian-inspired home. The styling is perfection for traditional interiors, Ralph Lauren–inspired spaces, and classic gentleman’s study décor.
Most “The Noble Tips” series prints were produced in the early-to-mid 1850s — typically circa 1852–1853.
Why I’m confident (based on exact titles)
The specific Noble Tips titles have — like:
• “Killing no MURDER”
• “Melody”
• “The Boys”
• “Tipperary … The Marquis at Home”
…are recorded as being part of Moore’s “Tally Ho! To the Sports” publication, with examples published January 12, 1853 (London).
Even though the images are “after” Turner (and Turner is often misdated), your actual lithographs are Victorian-era sporting prints from the 1850s, and your framing could be later (often late 19th / early 20th c.).
“Mid-19th century (circa 1852–1853), later framing.”
“Published London, 1853 — Moore’s Tally Ho! sporting series.”
