Impressive large cylindrical bronze mortar with flared rim. Body decorated with three arrays of triangular motif and two linear bands. Bottom has one inch concavity from extensive use as a mortar. Discovered in Florence adjacent to the Pitti Palace. The XIII century dating and the basic integrity of the mortar it is possible that this mortar was beried for 600 years since the 1368 black plague hit Florence.
