If you are on the hunt for a pair of understated chenets that would add antique interest to a 21st century interior, you are likely having difficulty finding anything that is not extremely ornate!
This pair of solid cast-brass chenets are French, and have a rich, soft old-brass patina. Their simple modern lines make them comfortably versatile in most any interior vernacular. It is truly difficult to find a pair like this!
I had to clarify for myself the difference between a pair of chenets and andirons. The chenet is an ornamental piece that is placed in front of the firebox in well-appointed homes, to protect fine rugs and flooring from rolling fire logs. They are not intended to hold the logs themselves -- that's the role of andirons.
