A striking pair of Chinoiserie-style wall lanterns featuring pagoda-form roofs decorated with hand-painted figural scenes and stylized patterns in gilt over a dark ground. Each lantern is richly detailed with sculptural gilt scrollwork, hanging bell ornaments, and a domed finial top, creating a dramatic and highly decorative silhouette.
The lantern bodies are constructed of painted metal with glass panels, designed to house interior lighting while allowing the ornamentation to remain the focal point. The figural scenes and repeating motifs reference traditional Asian imagery, a hallmark of classic Chinoiserie design widely embraced in European and American interiors during the mid-20th century.
