An interesting pair of antique oil paintings on canvas, round in shape, depicting religious scenes, created in the late 18th century by the Venetian school. The works are conceived as companion pieces and presented in 19th-century gilded wooden frames, finely carved with floral motifs and a bow-shaped cornice, typical of devotional art of the period.
The painting is executed with a delicate touch and narrative sensibility, typical of the cultured popular religious tradition, with intensely expressive rendering of faces and postures. There is natural craquelure and slight signs of aging, consistent with the age of the works and indicative of their authenticity, without compromising their overall readability.
Overall good condition considering their age. The frames feature beautiful gilding with their original patina.
A decorative and evocative pair, ideal for classical settings, collectors of sacred art, or to enrich a collection of antique paintings.
